Prof. Hongyu Ren, Harbin Institute of Technology, China

Areas of Expertise: Algae biofuels and high-value products, anaerobic fermentation/digestion, energy and resource recovery, biological treatment processes, sludge treatment and advanced oxidation process
Brief Introduction: Hong-Yu Ren is the associate professor and doctoral supervisor in School of Environment, Harbin Institute of Technology. He received his BS, MD and PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China. After his PhD, he performed postdoctoral studies at the Harbin Institute of Technology, and visiting scholar studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests mainly include algae biofuels and high-value products, anaerobic fermentation/digestion, energy and resource recovery, biological treatment processes, sludge treatment and advanced oxidation process. He has published more than 80 research papers in international referred journals. He served as an editorial board member for Water, and was the Guest Editor for Water and Energies. He was awarded the Most Valued Reviewers in Bioresource Technology and Outstanding Reviewer in China Environmental Science, Energy Conversion and Management, Bioresource Technology, Renewable Energy.

Brief IntroductionMonika Sharma obtained her BSc and MSc degree at the Faculty  of Life Science, Shoolini University (India) (from 2014-2019). She is  PhD in the area of “Environmental Microbiology”, from School of Life  Science, Lanzhou University, China “under Chinese Government  Council” scholarship programme (2019-2023). Since July 2024, she is  working as postdoctoral research fellow under Cuiying Scholar  Program (high talented researcher), Lanzhou University, China. Her  research topic is “Utilization of various substrates in bioelectrochemical  systems for sustainable energy production and wastewater treatment”.  She have contributed to the scientific society through 19-SCI papers (including Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Energy chemistry,  and Journal of Water Process Engineering).

Dr, Nandini Thakur, Lanzhou University, China

Brief IntroductionNandini Thakur her B.Sc. degree at the Faculty of Life Science, Shoolini University (from 2014-2017) and M.Sc. degree at the Faculty of Life  Science, Lovely Professional University (India) (from 2017-2019). She  followed a Ph.D. under “The Chinese Government Council” scholarship  program (2019-2023). She pursued a PhD in “Environmental Microbiology” at, the School of Life Science, LZU, China. Since July 2024, she has been a  postdoctoral research fellow under the Cuiying Scholar Program (a highly talented researcher), at Lanzhou University, China. Her research topic is  “Enhancement of the digestibility and microbiome of lipidic-waste in  anaerobic digestion through different approaches”. She has contributed to the scientific society  through 21 SCI papers.
